چکیده

ooking back, the signs were there for several years. Grandma Blanche started misplacing her keys and wallet in her early 50s. Having lived through the Great Depression, my grandma would hide money around the house rather than have it all deposited in a bank. The problem was she would forget where she hid it. I can remember my mother going through every inch of Grandma’s house one day and collecting over $5,000. She convinced Grandma it would be safer to put her money into a certificate of deposit. Grandma was more thrilled over the free toaster she received from the credit union than the fact she had found thousands of dollars hidden around her house.

God will forgive: reflecting on God's love decreases neurophysiological responses to errors.

In religions where God is portrayed as both loving and wrathful, religious beliefs may be a source of fear as well as comfort. Here, we consider if God's love may be more effective, relative to God's wrath, for soothing distress, but less effective for helping control behavior. Specifically, we assess whether contemplating God's love reduces our ability to detect and emotionally react to confli...

TMSJ 7/1 (Spring 1996) 53-74

In the face of challengers in his second letter, the apostle Peter makes it clear in 1:16-21 that God's word is his source of authority and spiritual knowledge. In doing this, he shows that the knowledge gained in God's written revelation prevails over that gained anywhere else. Because of its superiority, Scripture deserves concentrated attention. All other conceivable sources of knowledge mus...
